On December 25, 2005, Kathy’s eleven year old husky who was suffering from kidney disease collapsed. For the next three days she and her family agonized over making the decision to euthanize or let their beloved family member pass naturally. She too questioned if she had done everything possible but knew in her heart it was time for her sweet husky to leave the physical world. It was December 29th when Kathy and her husband brought their beautiful Mita to the vet office to assist her in her transition. Kathy knew animals hold on to our fears and emotions so she needed to be strong for her girl. When they arrived Kathy asked for some time alone to energetically clear the room to help facilitate a smooth transition for Mita. She also requested the veterinarian imagine the injection to be filled with white light for Mita’s highest good which he agreed to do. When the vet started to inject the anesthetic into Mita’s leg Kathy said “I send you light, I send you love, I send you wings to fly”. Before the injection was complete Mita peacefully passed away with Kathy and her husband by her side.
Four months later Kathy and her family were faced with having to say goodbye to their beloved fourteen year old malamute. Kishka had been diagnosed with sarcoma a few weeks prior to Mita’s passing. Kathy was confident Kishka would give her a sign and although the tumor continued to grow Kathy waited trusting Kishka would let her know. The day before Kishka made her transition she was eating well and seemed very peaceful until that evening when she became very distant. It was after her passing Kathy realized this was Kishka’s way of protecting her by attempting to push her away. The morning of April 11th Kishka was laying in the living room staring at the chair Mita always slept in. Kathy remembers says to her “You’re getting your marching orders from Mita, aren’t you”. Shortly there after Kathy had a strong feeling she needed to check on Kishka who was now in the bedroom. The thought no sooner crossed her mind when she heard Kishka cry. There was no doubt when she entered the room Kishka had given her the sign it was time to leave so Kathy and her son brought their beloved girl in to assist her with her transition. She too slipped away peacefully leaving Kathy and her family with an incredible sense of sadness and emptiness. ________________________________________________________
